Proud Moments…
Morgan Fitch, the founder of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps
and a former Navy League National President, was
awarded the coveted Lone Sailor Award at a U.S. Navy
Memorial Foundation gala on Oct. 30 in Washington,
D.C. The award is given annually to Sea Service veterans who have distinguished themselves in their respective careers while exemplifying the core
values of honor, courage and commitment. Fitch, who served as Navy
League national president from 1965 to 1967, was honored for establishing
the Sea Cadet Corps, whose youth leaders now receive the prestigious
Morgan Fitch Award. Fitch now joins the ranks of other Lone Sailor distinguished awardees such as Sen. John Warner, who was also honored this
year, former presidents George H. W. Bush and Gerald Ford and retired
