South Carolina Governor
Joins Hilton Head Council
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley
is the newest member of the Navy
League’s Hilton Head Council.
South Carolina Area President
Richard Foster presented Haley
with her membership card, a copy
of Seapower magazine and the
Navy League’s Maritime Policy.
The governor’s husband, Army
Capt. Michael Haley, currently is
deployed to Afghanistan and the
Navy League’s Active Duty Spouse
membership was appropriate given
Haley’s support for all of the nation’s
military, Foster said. Haley is the
only active-duty spouse/governor
member of the Navy League.
South Carolina is home to a
number of very active military
installations. The Hilton Head
Island Council is made up of 100
members throughout Beaufort and
Jasper counties. ■
