Global Services, a new business unit that will
be formed by the third quarter of the year from
the customer services groups within the company’s commercial airplanes and defense, space
and security business units. Since 2014, Deal
has served as senior vice president of Boeing’s
Commercial Aviation Services business.
The company also promoted Pat Goggin to pres-
ident of its Defense, Space & Security Development
organization, succeeding Jim O’Neill. Goggin served
as vice president of Airplane Programs Engineering
for the Boeing’s Commercial Airplanes unit.
n HMS Global Maritime, owner and operator of the
American Queen Steamboat Co. as well as 85 U.S.-
flag vessels, selected former Maritime Admini-
strator Paul “Chip” Jaenichen Sr. as the new chief
n Akoustis Technologies Inc. appointed John T. Kurtz-
weil to its board of directors. Kurtzweil currently is
vice president for finance of Cree Inc.
n The board of directors of Raytheon Co. elected
James A. “Sandy” Winnefeld Jr. as a director.
Winnefeld, is a retired U.S. Navy admiral who
served as the ninth vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs
n Northrop Grumman Corp. selected Tim Paynter
vice president of strategic communications.
Paynter succeeds Randy Belote, who retired.
Paynter joined Northrop Grumman in 2005 and
has served in a variety of communications leadership roles.
n LMI Aerospace Inc. appointed Jay Inman
president of engineering services, a role he had been
serving on an interim basis since September. With
Inman’s promotion, the company has eliminated
the role he previously held as engineering services
COO. The company also has named Keith Schrader
vice president of operations, overseeing its aero-structures operations and supporting functions.
Schrader previously served as vice president and
general manager of the Assembly & Machining
Center of Excellence.
n Retired Navy Adm. Kirkland H. Donald has been
elected to HII’s board of directors. Donald retired
from the U.S. Navy in 2013 after 37 years of ser-
vice. His last assignment was as the director, Naval
n Saab appointed Anders Carp as new head of its
surveillance business area. Carp previously headed
the company’s traffic management business unit.
He succeeds Micael Johansson, who became deputy
CEO and executive vice president.
n Northrop Grumman Corp. elected Gen. Mark A.
Welsh III, dean of the Bush School of Government
and Public Service at Texas A&M University, to its
board of directors. Welsh previously served as chief
of staff of the U.S. Air Force.
n Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. appointed
Reserve Brig. Gen. Pini Yungman executive vice
president and head of the company’s Air Superiority
Systems Division. Yungman is replacing Yosi Druker
who is retiring.
n Retired Navy Rear Adm. Terence McKnight, senior
vice president of government relations at Cobham
Advanced Electronic Solutions, has succeeded Brian
Schires of Rolls-Royce Naval, Americas, as chair of
the Amphibious Warship Industrial Base Coalition.
n Retired Marine Corps Gen. John J. “Jack” Sheehan
has been elected chair of the board of directors of the
Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).
Sheehan, a senior vice president with Bechtel
Industries, has served on the MOAA board since 2012.
n The National Marine Electronics Association
(NMEA) appointed four additional members to
the board of directors: Brian Kane, chief technol-
ogy officer, founding partner and board member
of Global Ocean Security Technologies; Sean
Hatherley, sales director at Navico; Jason Young,
who oversees the outside sales department, key
account management and brand management at
CWR Electronics; and Kevin Boughton, senior tech-
nician at Midcoast Marine Electronics in Rockland,
Maine. Additionally, Mike Spyros of Electronics
Unlimited took the reins as NMEA chairman after
serving as vice chairman since 2014. He succeeds
Johnny Lindstrom of Westport Yachts, whose term
ended at the end of the year. Board members Steve
Katz of Steve’s Marine Service and Lou Rota of FLIR
Systems moved into the positions of vice chairman
and secretary, respectively.
n Pelican Products Inc. appointed Phil Gyori group
president. He will head all three company divi-
sions: Commercial/Government, Consumer and
n John Parrott has assumed the role of president
and CEO of Foss Maritime. Parrott joined Foss in
January 2016 as COO and in August assumed the
role of president from retiring President and CEO
Paul Stevens, who assumed a new role as senior
vice president of Saltchuk. n
