The 26-member group attended a special “Color’s
Ceremony” at 8 a.m. and then a Recruits’ Graduation
Ceremony at 9 a.m. Following the ceremony, the contingent received a guided tour of the base on a special
tram and had lunch in the Chow Hall, according to a
report from National Director Pat Yovich.
The trip was arranged by Council Judge Advocate
General and Board Member Ed Robb. Renforth was
the featured speaker at the council’s November dinner
that marked the Marine Corps’ 241th birthday. During
his remarks, he detailed the work of Parris Island drill
instructors and the quality of the recruits they convert
into U.S. Marines.

Scorpion Squadron Grow
Long before the first call of “Let’s Make a Deal,”
U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps cadets from the Keyport,
Wash.-based USS Scorpion Squadron were at the
Bremerton Elks Lodge setting up tables and helping
turn the main hall into a maze of game shows and
display booths for military families to enjoy. They
also staffed the check-in table, distributed forms,
helped families move from one game to the next, and
helped clean up and stow tables after the event.
The Military Game Show Party was hosted by the
Ranger and Northwest Military newspapers, and insurer
USAA, according to a report from Kevin Torcolini, the
Savannah Council members got a tour of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., Jan. 27, that included a Recruits’ Graduation Ceremony.
Cmdr. Scott Larson, commanding officer, littoral combat ship USS
Coronado, leads a tour of members of the Navy League’s Singapore
Council and their families aboard the ship Feb. 8 at Sembawang
Naval Base. All the important parts of the ship were included in
the tour, and knowledgeable Sailors were available for further
explanations on parts of the ship not directly included in the
tour. The Seahawk helicopter and the unmanned helicopter, Fire
Scout, drew a lot of attention, according to the council’s website.
Coronado currently is on a rotational deployment to U.S. Seventh
Fleet in support of the Asia-Pacific Rebalance.
