Skip Witunski presented a Navy
Sword to Ensign Sarah Wood Dec.
15 at the CW Young Auditorium
on the campus of University of
South Florida (USF), where she
was a member of the university’s
ROTC program. Wood, who hails
from Kokomo, Ind., graduated
summa cum laude from USF with a
bachelor’s degree in secondary science education with a concentration in biology. She now will report
to the amphibious transport dock
ship USS New Orleans in San Diego
as a surface warfare officer. This is
the 10th year the Tampa Council
has presented a sword to the top
commissioned ROTC graduate.

STATEMENT OF POLICY
■ We of the Navy League of the United
States stand for a strong America — a nation
morally, economically, and internally strong.
■ We believe that the security of our nation
and of the people of the world demands a
well-balanced, integrated, mobile American
defense team, of which a strong Navy, Marine
Corps, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine are
■ We support all Armed Services to the end
that each may make its appropriate contribu-
tion to the national security.
■ We know that in a free nation an informed
public is indispensable to national security
and, therefore, we will strive to keep the
nation alert to dangers which threaten — both
