COVER STORY
The promise of a massive package of funding initiatives and tax incentives
aimed at stimulating the nation’s slumping economy has maritime industry
officials hoping that change is on the way to boost international trade and
domestic shipping. As the new administration of President Barack Obama
and Congress debate the scale and price tag of the package, industry
experts say it could include money for improvement projects at ports,
inland waterways and other facilities that support maritime trade.
